VOLBEAT emerged from Copenhagen in 2001. Since then, they’ve tirelessly clawed their way to hard rock’s upper echelon with endless touring and a string of six beloved full-length albums. Recently, their 2010 album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, which features hit singles “A Warrior’s Call” and “Heaven Nor Hell,” received RIAA Gold Certification. 2013’s Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies bowed at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release marking the highest U.S. chart entry for a Danish Act since 1997.
‘High Expectations’ is that rare record which feels both like a graduation and, also, just the beginning for Mabel. The twice-Brit-nominated singer and songwriter has already sold over 3 million singles in the UK (two platinum, three gold, and two silver), surpassed 1 billion streams, and sold out the likes of Brixton Academy. Across her formative singles and first long-form project, ‘Ivy To Roses’, Mabel has written with startling honesty on young love, identity, girl power, and mental health – knowing full-well that she would make her debut album only when she was ready. And on that road to her first record, Mabel’s music has become a soundtrack – for her impassioned young female fanbase, but also for herself – on how to turn those vulnerabilities into your advantages. Now poised to join the pantheon of international pop greats, her tireless energy, positivity and drive will never allow Mabel to settle for anything less than ‘High Expectations’. In 2019, watch Mabel meet them and keep reaching higher still.
Run Home Slow is the sophomore album from The Teskey Brothers. The Australian band are two brothers (Josh and Sam Teskey) and their friends Liam Gough and Brendon Love. Onstage the band is as tight as any in the game, bringing horns and keys into the fray to deliver a show that soars and dives with masterful control. It's anyone's guess how far The Teskey Brothers are going to take their music but all indications so far suggest the love will go deep and wide around the world for this special combo.
Crafting honestly poetic, passionate and powerful songs, Nashville-Indie duo, The Harmaleighs (composed of Haley Grant and Kaylee Jasperson) forthcoming project 'She Won’t Make Sense' is a concept album about mental illness (Mania, Depression and Anxiety) experienced by band member Haley Grant.

In the fall of 2018, pianist and bandleader Jon Batiste played a six-night residency at the historic Village Vanguard in downtown New York City. On August 2, Batiste will release selections from those nights entitled ‘Anatomy of Angels: Live at the Village Vanguard’ via Verve Records.
The selection for Anatomy of Angels is comprised mostly of Batiste’s own compositions, which range from bluesy (“Dusk Train To Doha”) to Coltrane-esque explorations (the titular track “Anatomy of Angels” and “Creative.”) In addition to his own works, Rachael Price from Lake Street Dive joins him for Ray Noble’s “The Very Thought Of You.” Batiste also arranged on one of the most famous works of his idol Thelonious Monk, “’Round Midnight.”
This long sought-after release celebrates the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, by giving fans a front-row seat to relive CCR’s stirring, hour-long set as it was performed that historic night in August of 1969. Kicking off with “Born on the Bayou,” the album features the band’s biggest singles of the day, plus selections off their first three LPs, including “Commotion,” “Ninety-Nine and a Half (Won’t Do)” and “Bootleg.” Full of creative energy, John, Tom, Stu, and Doug delve deep into their music, playing extended improvisations of “I Put a Spell on You,” “Keep on Chooglin’” and “Suzie Q.”
First Taste is, as the title implies, a visceral shot of new flavor from Ty Segall. The followup to last January's extroverted Freedom's Goblin, First Taste cross-fertilizes Ty's antisocial side (think: Emotional Mugger) with the wide-ranging humanism of Manipulator and the pop zazz of the aforementioned Goblin. This means an immaculate sequence of sides with Ty playing multiple parts with and without contributions from the Freedom Band. Ty's songwriting confidence is at an apex, and he moves from style to style, evoking directions in rock, lite pop, experimental, alternative and even afrobeat! Ty at 12 (albums) = his best yet?
The long awaited new project from rockers, SKILLET is the band's most anticipated album to date. The foursome's overwhelmingly satisfied with the entire sonic and thematic palette throughout VICTORIOUS, which is loaded with plenty of anthems in the making destined to be smash singles and concert sing-a-longs.
The first official Jerry Garcia Band live release to be pressed to vinyl, Electric on the Eel: August 10th, 1991 features two complete, previously unreleased sets captured at French’s Camp on the Eel River in Piercy, CA. The release consists of the familiar Jerry Garcia Band line-up, which was in peak form, jamming through a diverse songbook. This 4-LP set pressed onto 180gm vinyl features an etching on Side H and includes a free MP3 download.
Spanning a career well into its third decade, Spoon has announced a greatest hits compilation to coincide with their enormous North American amphitheater tour alongside Beck and Cage The Elephant. In addition to the 12 classics assembled onto this single LP, Spoon enters a new classic into the canon: “No Bullets Spent.” Available worldwide on August 16th, 2019.
LETTUCE is (a) the prime ingredient in a salad, (b) a slang for cash, (c) a green herb that can be smoked, (d) a genre-busting six-member funk/jazz/soul/jam/psychedelic/hip-hop/art-rock/ambient/ avant-garde/experimental collective formed in 1992 by four alumni of the prestigious Berklee College Of Music, or (e) all of the above.

The long-awaited fourth full-length by Föllakzoid isn't merely a recalibration for the band. It is a multidimensional reconsideration of what the process of songwriting, performance, and creating a work of recorded music can be. Föllakzoid grows via depuration, aiming with each record to fill longer spaces of time with fewer and fewer elements. The creative perspective of the band has always been about unlearning the narrative and musical knowledge that shape the physical and digital formats and conceptions available, both visually and musically in order to make a time-space metric structure that dissolves both the author and the narrative paradigms. "We found our sonic and metric identity even more in these songs than in our previous attempts," guitarist/singer Domingæ Garcia-Huidobro explains. Unlike past Föllakzoid records, that were done in single takes with the full band, this record took three months to construct out of more than 60 separate stems - guitars, bass, drums, synthesizers, and vocals, all recorded in isolation. Producer Atom TM, who was not present for recording, was then asked to re-organize the four sequences of stems without any length, structural restrictions or guidelines. Those sequences ultimately became the four long tracks that appear on I. The result of this was a set of songs where neither the band's, nor the producer's, structural vision primarily shaped the metric or tonal space shifts, but where both were still subliminally present in each of the parts that form the structure and the frequency modulations that guide them. "We invite you to join us in sharing the experience of being led by this non-rational, sonic artform and it's energy. It is also an invitation to connect once again with your inner master and his intuition, erasing the systematic rationalization that usually follows creative forces when perceived, to guide you on this holographic simultaneous simulation where reality is rooted in," Domingae added.

When Francis Lung describes his new album as sounding like a short Mancunian boy single-handedly trying to incite Beatlemania hes really not too far wide of the mark. Released later this Summer, Lungs much-anticipated debut album A Dream Is U is both bold and enthusiastic, a kaleidoscopic journey informed by the greats but also one that is wonderfully enigmatic, the sound of a multi-instrumentalist tying together all manner of influences into one beautifully cohesive album.Following on from the home-recorded Volumes 1 + 2 EPs, which contained titbits written during his time in Wu Lyf, A Dream Is U is the first fully-realised Francis Lung record, a studio undertaking brought to life with producer Brendan Williams (Dutch Uncles, GoGo Penguin), a colourful patchwork of vision and ingenuity. Before we started recording I knew exactly what the arrangements were in my head Francis says, reflecting on the time spent devising his new work. It was kind of my mission to capture everything as it was in my imagination. Touching upon the universal themes of addiction, faith, and love in all of its confusion, A Dream Is U is a collection of characters and stories that plays out something like a Harvey Pekar comic strip; an obsessive chronicle of daily lives twisted into new shapes by the unique mind and manners of their narrator. With flashes of striking colour and an ever-present wry smile, Francis Lung has created a debut album that drifts between simple acceptance and exuberant yearning for more. My favourite part is when it talks about escaping to another universe, Francis says of one song in particular, Unnecessary Love. Although its a doomed and impossible dream, its amusing to me that if we survive long enough it could be a real possibility. At times boisterous and radiant, elsewhere contemplative and brooding, A Dream Is U feels like being awake in dreams, like stepping outside of the daily rotation; like shadows leaving their dancing bodies to waltz away to their own tune.
