Franklin Avenue Road Project
In non-music news, the Electric Fetus is currently objecting to another proposed Franklin Avenue road construction project that will certainly disrupt our business, our neighbors and of course, our customers. And it creates safety concerns.
Many of you will recall we endured the 35W and Franklin Bridge construction project from just several years ago. Now, Hennepin County is proposing to reverse and remove road safety improvements that were installed through that previous construction work, notably eliminating the left turn lane on Franklin Ave. to 4th Avenue South and installing a median that will block access to the Fetus. Most of our customers arrive coming on Westbound Franklin so now would be forced to park to the North across the street or drive further down Franklin, take a left turn down a narrow residential street to loop back around to our store. That’s unreasonable. And forces pedestrians who park to the North to cross a busy street.
We are urging the County to reconsider moving forward with this part of the project and encouraging officials to reassess the traffic situation to avoid profoundly disrupting our neighborhood.
